Overview

Maastricht offers 18 full scholarships a year to highly talented non-EU students admitted to a participating master’s programme. It combines the university’s own High Potential Scholarship with the NL Scholarship. The university says only about 2% of applicants are selected. The package includes a living-expenses payment, and Maastricht arranges and pays tuition, visa costs and insurance; a room is allocated and refusing it cancels the scholarship.

Eligibility

The page asks for a non-EU/EEA/Swiss/Surinamese nationality, a full application file for a participating full-time master’s, no earlier degree-seeking study in the Netherlands, a GPA of 7.5 out of 10 or higher, and being no older than 35 on 1 September of the start year. As of October 2026 the window runs from 1 October 2026 to 1 February 2027 (23:59 CET) for the 2027–2028 academic year, and Maastricht asks for a complete admission file by 10 December 2026.
