Overview

The VU Fellowship Programme waives the tuition fee for talented non-EU/EEA students admitted to a full-time English-taught master’s programme at VU Amsterdam. VU states it covers tuition only; you must pay your own living costs. Applying also enters you for the NL Scholarship, a one-off €5,000 contribution.

Eligibility

A non-EU/EEA passport, academic excellence (VU gives a GPA equivalent to a Dutch 8 as the benchmark), conditional or unconditional admission to a full-time English-taught master’s starting in September, and no earlier degree from a Dutch institution. As of October 2026 VU lists applications opening on 1 November 2026 and closing on 1 February 2027 for the September 2027 intake, with results expected mid-March 2027.
