Tuition fees by university: why we do not rank the cheapest
A “most affordable” list would need a fee for every university. In the Netherlands that number does not exist in any open national dataset, and for most students it is the same everywhere.
If you are an EU/EEA, Swiss or Surinamese student
For a first degree, you pay the statutory fee, €2,694 for full-time study in 2026/27, and it is the same at every publicly funded university and university of applied sciences. No institution is cheaper than another. Choose on programme, city and housing. The cost of living differs far more between cities than the fee ever will.
If you are a non-EU student
You pay the institutional fee, which each institution sets, usually above the statutory fee, and which can differ by programme and year. DUO’s data does not contain it, so we do not print one. Use the list below to go to the institution’s own site and look up the programme you want. Compare programmes rather than universities.
Full details, including who qualifies for which fee, are on the tuition fees guide.
